One of our key priorities is fostering a research-oriented mindset. To achieve this, we regularly organise professional lectures, laboratory and industrial site visits, and scientific forums that offer students opportunities to explore the latest research developments and present their own projects. A flagship event of the Advanced College is the Cholnoky Symposium, which serves as an important platform for showcasing student research and promoting academic dialogue.

Alongside our professional activities, we place great emphasis on building a strong and supportive community. We strive to create an environment where our members can grow both personally and professionally while developing the skills needed for successful careers. We are also committed to social responsibility: our members regularly participate in charitable initiatives, health education and science outreach programmes, and actively contribute to the community life of both the Faculty and the University.

The College’s mission is to promote knowledge transfer and systems thinking. Recognising that the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation—and the pathways to environmental protection—can only be fully understood through an interdisciplinary perspective, the FFSZ serves as a bridge between the natural and social sciences. Its members, ranging from bachelor’s and master’s students to doctoral candidates, pursue their own research projects, present their findings, and receive guidance and support in developing and advancing their academic work.

The Advanced College is closely aligned with the University’s flagship Green University initiative. Beyond serving as a centre for scientific excellence, it also promotes sustainability awareness and environmental education across the University community. Through its inspiring academic and social environment, the FFSZ empowers the next generation of professionals to understand economic, political, and environmental processes in their global context and to become active contributors to a more environmentally conscious, sustainable, and liveable future.

The College operates on a horizontal, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary learning model, bringing together bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, academic staff, international student members, and external experts. Members collaborate in courses, research projects, fieldwork, workshops, conferences, and community initiatives. External professionals also participate in the mentoring programme, providing students involved in the Scientific Students’ Associations (TDK), doctoral studies, and collaborative research projects with professional guidance, constructive feedback, and expert evaluation. In addition, students receive mental well-being and performance support through the involvement of a psychologist.

Among the College’s flagship activities are research scholarships, research camps, a book club, methodology and digital skills development courses, participation in national and international conferences, and the publication of its peer-reviewed academic journal, Grastyán Booklets (Grastyán-füzetek). Its principal research areas include international comparative studies of student resilience, the development of board games that promote sustainability and collaboration, and psychobiography.

The Advanced College follows a demand-driven approach, designing its programmes around the current academic, research, professional, and personal development needs of its members. Alongside academic excellence, it places strong emphasis on community building, recognising that members contribute to the College not only through their research and professional achievements but also through their personal values and active participation.

The College is committed to translating research outcomes into educational practice and broader societal impact. This includes initiatives supporting public education, students with special educational needs (SEN), disadvantaged learners, science communication activities, and community engagement projects aimed at creating positive social change.

Our programme includes professional lectures, workshops, conference participation, research initiation workshops, and preparatory sessions for the Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (TDK). We place particular emphasis on pedagogical innovation, gamification, arts education, and storytelling pedagogy. Our members regularly present their research findings at national and international academic forums.

Promoting a culture of reading is one of the College’s key missions. To this end, we organise courses, lectures, and community events while encouraging a love of books through open bookshelf initiatives and other reading-focused activities. We also nurture creativity through drawing and photography competitions that connect reading, the arts, and shared community experiences.

Alongside academic activities, we place great importance on students’ mental well-being and experiential learning. Our programme includes mindfulness and yoga sessions, board game workshops, and music and dance events. We also consider it essential for future educators to become familiar with animal-assisted educational methods, which is why our activities include dog-assisted and equine-assisted sessions. These experiences contribute to the development of participants’ self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and professional competencies.

The Gyula Illyés Advanced College is a community where academic excellence, Talent Management, creativity, shared experiences, and personal development are equally valued. Our goal is to prepare knowledgeable, open-minded, and committed educators who will actively shape the future of education.

The College’s activities are built around three core pillars. The academic pillar offers a dedicated programme of extracurricular courses each semester, while many of our members achieve outstanding results at the Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (TDK) and the National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (OTDK). We also organise two major regional academic events: the Pécs Management Case Study Competition and the National Advanced Colleges Meeting. Through our community pillar, team-building activities and camps create a strong, supportive community. Social responsibility is equally important to us, and each semester we organise charity collections and community initiatives. Together, these three pillars define both what we do and how we do it.

The JPKSZ is not only a student organisation but also an accredited Advanced College. We are proud that, in recognition of our consistently high-quality academic and community activities, we have repeatedly been awarded the nationally accredited Qualified Advanced College status for the maximum possible accreditation period.

Membership applications are open every semester to students enrolled in economics and business programmes at the University of Pécs who have at least two active semesters remaining in their studies. We believe that becoming a member of the Advanced College provides invaluable academic knowledge, professional experience, and lifelong memories, giving our graduates a distinctive advantage as they enter the labour market.

Supporting talented students and encouraging participation in the Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (TDK) are among the College’s highest priorities. We motivate our members to initiate independent research projects, deepen their academic expertise, and present their results at scientific forums. Thanks to this commitment, many of our students have achieved outstanding success in academic competitions, with several receiving national recognition for their work.

Within our community, particular emphasis is placed on applying theoretical knowledge in practice. Members participate in training courses, workshops, professional events, and collaborative projects that enhance their academic, research, and personal competencies. We strive to create an open and supportive academic environment where students with diverse interests can learn from one another and grow together.

The Jenő Juhász Advanced College is committed to making its work visible both within the University of Pécs and to the wider public. To this end, we continuously strengthen our online presence and showcase the achievements that reflect the professional excellence of our members and the values of our community.

As the oldest Advanced College at the University of Pécs, our College has welcomed students since 1993 who wish to pursue research in the humanities and social sciences alongside their regular university studies.

As an accredited Qualified Advanced College, we are an active member of the national Advanced College network (Interkoll) and operate in accordance with the principles set out in the Advanced College Charter.

Our Core Principles

Autonomy

Our community is built on democratic self-governance. At our weekly General Assembly meetings, members discuss matters affecting the College and make decisions collectively. The institutional framework, programmes, and day-to-day operation of the College are shaped and managed by its current members.

Academic Excellence

Members’ research activities are supported by a mentoring network of doctoral students. Ongoing research projects are presented and discussed during weekly academic discussion evenings and at the College’s own annual conference. Completed research may be published in the College’s peer-reviewed yearbook, Annona Nova.

Community

A vibrant community life is an essential part of the College. Student-led initiatives such as the Boncasztal Film Club, the Hiking Society, and semesterly team-building events provide opportunities for members to connect beyond their academic work.

Social Responsibility

The College also serves as a forum for critical discussion on social, economic, and public affairs. Our introductory course, Critical Foundations, familiarises new members with this approach. We further promote social responsibility by organising and participating in book launches and academic events dedicated to important theoretical works and contemporary social issues.

Admissions

We open applications three times each academic year for undergraduate, master’s, and undivided programme students in the humanities who wish to join a vibrant academic community and pursue independent research in any field of the humanities or social sciences.

Applicants who already have a clearly defined research proposal are encouraged to apply directly to the first-year cohort.

Students who are still exploring potential research topics but would like to become involved in the life of the College are warmly invited to join the preparatory (zeroth-year) cohort.

The College’s academic activities are organised into four specialised divisions: Criminal Law, Civil Law, Public Law, and Legal Theory and Legal History. Members participate in research projects, academic conferences, professional competitions, and round-table discussions while developing their academic competencies and presenting their research findings. The Advanced College has published numerous academic volumes and has been issuing the peer-reviewed legal journal Scriptura for more than a decade.

Community building is another key priority of the College. Members become part of a supportive and active academic community that encourages collaboration, initiative, and professional growth. Over the years, the ÓNSZ has also established a strong alumni network, providing students with valuable professional connections and long-term career opportunities.

The b2 Advanced College is dedicated to providing its members with diverse opportunities for growth in education, practical experience, and community life. Our activities focus on the exchange of scientific knowledge and research expertise through regular lectures, interactive debates, and round-table discussions. These events are followed by informal networking receptions, creating opportunities for deeper professional dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

We place great emphasis on building professional networks and supporting our members’ future careers. We are committed to establishing close partnerships with leading architectural firms and strengthening our connections with other architecture advanced colleges and student organisations through joint events and knowledge exchange. To encourage active participation in the profession, we cover entry fees for architectural competitions, enabling our members to gain valuable practical experience and showcase their talent.

Academic development is complemented by inspiring community experiences. We regularly organise professional study trips and educational visits, including excursions to the Venice Biennale, as well as summer camps at Lake Balaton featuring workshops and collaborative projects. Social responsibility is also one of our core values, and our members actively contribute as volunteers to the “Lakni kell!” (“Everyone Needs a Home”) community initiative.
