The University of Pécs has ten dormitories offering more than 4,000 places, approximately 3,000 of which are located in Pécs. The dormitories are situated in quiet, residential areas of the city, with easy access to the University’s faculties as well as the city centre. Most of the buildings have recently been fully renovated and provide modern amenities. The rooms are nicely furnished, include private bathrooms, and bedclothes are supplied.

Accommodation is available at a reasonable price level, making the dormitories an attractive option for students. More than 800 dormitory places are specifically prepared for international students and include English-speaking reception services. These services help ensure a comfortable, supportive, and welcoming environment for students arriving from abroad and contribute to a smooth transition into university life in Pécs.

Szántó Dormitory

The largest dormitory of the University of Pécs is located in the centre of Uránváros and welcomes both Hungarian and international students from all faculties. Most rooms are arranged in a block system, where two twin rooms share a bathroom and kitchenette. Several room categories are available, including smaller twin rooms with a compact kitchen area and combined bathroom, as well as rooms in the “D” section with shared sanitary facilities.

Students may also request access to study rooms available on each floor. The lounges host both student-organized events and community programmes arranged by the Dormitory Committee. Washing machines can be used by prior reservation through the reception.

Damjanich Dormitory

The 100-bed dormitory primarily accommodates international students. Thanks to its barrier-free design, including four fully accessible rooms, it also provides suitable housing for students with reduced mobility.

The twin rooms are equipped with private bathrooms featuring shower cabins. Wardrobes and shelves offer ample storage space for personal belongings. Cooking facilities are available in the shared kitchens on each floor, while laundry can be done in the laundry room equipped with four washing machines and two dryers.

The building also includes two separate study rooms, each comfortably accommodating three to four students at a time.

Balassa Dormitory

The dormitory is located close to several major faculties of the University (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Humanities, and Faculty of Sciences). The eight-storey building primarily accommodates international students, and a limited number of guest rooms are also available during the academic year.

All rooms are twin rooms furnished with built-in wardrobes, a refrigerator, desks, and a washbasin. Each floor provides separate male and female shower and toilet facilities, as well as a shared kitchen equipped with a microwave, electric stove, preparation counter, and sink. The laundry room, located on the first floor, is equipped with five washing machines and dryers.

Residents also have access to community spaces, including two study rooms and a larger lounge area on the first floor furnished with sofas and tables.

What facilities are available in the dormitories?

Dormitories typically offer internet access in every room, study rooms, lounges, bicycle storage, parking spaces, a cafeteria, and a student club. Facilities may vary slightly depending on the building.

Is internet access available in the rooms?

Yes, internet access (Wi-Fi or wired connection) is included in the price in all rooms. In some cases, you may need a UTP cable for wired access.

Are there study areas in the dormitories?

Yes, dormitories provide designated study rooms for individual learning and group work. Lounges and community spaces are also available for academic and social activities.

What documents do I need for check-in?

You must bring:

  • Your passport
  • A passport-size photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm) for the dormitory card
  • Proof that you are enrolled at the University of Pécs for the given academic year
  • Confirmation that your dormitory application has been approved
  • A bank card or cash to pay the first month’s dormitory fee

Please note that you cannot move in without paying the dormitory fee.

When can I move into the dormitory?

If your dormitory application has been accepted, you may move in from the official move-in date specified by the dormitory. Early or late arrival policies may involve additional fees.

How can I pay the dormitory fee?

Dormitory fees are typically payable online through the university system, by bank transfer, or in person at designated university cashier offices.

What happens if I move out during the semester?

You must notify the dormitory management in advance (usually 30 days before departure). Special rules and daily fees may apply in the month of moving out.

Are guest rooms available in the dormitories?

Yes, our dormitories offer guest rooms for both individual visitors and groups. The rooms are comfortably furnished and suitable for short stays during conferences, professional events, training sessions, or other programs.
