The Student Union of the University of Pécs (hereinafter referred to as EHÖK) is the organisation responsible for representing and protecting students’ interests and rights. We carry out our activities in cooperation with the Faculty Student Unions and the University leadership. Our primary responsibility is to protect students’ rights and represent their interests in academic matters, issues related to fees and financial support, dormitory affairs, and other university-related matters. We also organise a variety of programmes to ensure that students have opportunities for recreation and social activities alongside their studies.
The officers and representatives of EHÖK are elected by the students, which means that every student of the University of Pécs has the right to vote and stand for election.
The Student Union of the University of Pécs operates at both university and faculty level. At university level, it coordinates the work of student representatives within the Senate, the University’s highest decision-making body, thereby creating the foundation for unified and effective student representation. EHÖK carries out its responsibilities in cooperation with the ten Faculty Student Unions. At faculty level, the Faculty Student Unions represent students’ interests in faculty committees and Faculty Councils. This bottom-up democratic organisational structure enables students to express their opinions and ideas through their elected representatives and communicate them to the University leadership and relevant higher education policy organisations.
The organisation also provides students with the opportunity to express their disagreement on matters affecting student rights, for example in relation to reforms of national higher education legislation. EHÖK also places particular emphasis on the coordinated support of university life and cultural and academic activities, as well as ensuring their funding. Its central budget supports the operation of the Faculty Student Unions and major university student festivals, including the highly popular Pécs University Days (PEN). In addition, EHÖK offers students a wide range of recreational opportunities through organised programmes and faculty events.
Students with an active status at the University of Pécs are welcome to contact EHÖK or their Faculty Student Union at any time with questions or problems related to university matters.
